Who am I?
Welcome to Lemon & Chillies – another food blog in the blogosphere. A foodie at heart, I have been toying with the idea of having a blog of my own for a while. I have been an avid regular reader of several blogs, I drew inspiration from these blogs and decided to take the plunge.
I started one with my friend, Laksh of Musings, titled “Lemon and chillies” at blogspot. Initially, with the enthusiasm of having my own cyberspace (a first for me), I was pretty regular with the posts. But somewhere along the line, I guess I realized how difficult it is to maintain a blog, in addition to all the other responsibilities you already have in life. Also, life dealt me a few bad cards late last year and that kept me pre-occupied, with little time to spare for my blog. With the advent of the new year, one of the resolutions I made (as you might have read in the blog already), was to revive the blog and post regularly. I moved it to my own domain now and am hoping to contribute more regularly.
When I first got a bunch of recipes from my mom, I wanted to store it in a digital format and preserve it for posterity. Then I started blog-hopping various food blogs and found so many other interesting recipes, that I wanted to try. I figured if I have a blog of my own, it will be a good place to store and showcase all the recipes that I have collected over the years.
I started cooking after I got married and slowly my interest in cooking transcended from making everyday food (translates to sambar, kootu, rasam as I am a South Indian) to trying out something new. I have tasted very many cuisines and I love each and every one of them, for their unique flavours. I have tried to re-create many of these dishes at home in my kitchen and you will see them appear in this blogspace, as and when I try them. So in short, the dishes in this recipes will be completely vegetarian and predominantly Indian but you will see a lot of dishes from other cuisines too as well as Fusion cuisine as defined here.
